Solent University student Alec Dent won last night’s Southampton Chortle Student Comedian Competition heat held at Glen Bar in the Glen Eyre student halls of residence.
Sam Jenkins-Shaw of Southampton University also performed in the heats as well as Solent students Andy Field, Sam Marrow, Kieran Murphy and Darryl Edge.

The finals of the competition will take place at a yet-to-be specified date at the Edinburgh Fringe. The winner will receive a £2,500 prize.
