Evita tells the story of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentinian dictator Juan Peron, and follows her as she becomes the ‘spiritual leader of the nation’ and the heart of the Argentinian people. The show includes lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and has over 20 major awards to its name. It has been adapted into an Oscar winning film featuring Madonna and Antonio Banderas. With well known songs like ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ and ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’ Evita is critically acclaimed, and this production by Bill Kenwright by special arrangement with the Really Useful Group comes to the Southampton Mayflower theatre from 14th October to 19th October.
The cast includes Marti Pellow as Che, who acts as the voice of the Argentinian people, while Eva Peron is played by Madalena Alberto. With previous roles in shows including The Witches of Eastwick, Chess, Jekyll & Hyde, Chicago, Blood Brothers, Les Misrables, and Fame between them, each actor brings a mass of experience to their roles in this production.
