Hello everyone, and congratulations on making it through to the end of exams! So, just in time to clear away those January blues, here is what’s on offer at Southampton theatre’s this week.
The Mayflower:
1. For fans of Strictly Come Dancing, for one afternoon only the Mayflower will be showing Anton Du Beke – Ballroom to Broadway. Accompanied by a big band orchestra, the show promises ‘the elegance of ballroom at its best and the razzle dazzle of Broadway.’
The show is at 3pm on Sunday 26th January. Tickets range from £19.50 up to £41.50.
2. Following Ballroom to Broadway is the comic spectacular Eat, Pray, Laugh! Barry Humphries’ Farewell Tour. Directed by Simon Phillips, director of the original Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the show has been reviewed as ‘razor sharp’.
The show is running from Tuesday 28th January – Saturday 1st February. Tickets range from £20 up to £47.50, and students with a valid student card will receive £5 off each ticket.
The Nuffield
The big offer of the week from the Nuffield is the Southampton Operatic Society’s rendition of Jesus Christ Superstar. Loosely based on the story of Christ’s crucifixion, we are warned to ‘prepare to be rocked’.
The show runs from 28th January – 1st February. Tickets are available for £14, £12 concessions.
