Today marks an exciting day for gamers everywhere. Not only is it the launch date of Watch Dogs, but also a new LEGO game going by the title LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham has been announced for release on all major gaming systems in Autumn 2014.
The announcement was made through the trailer shown below, and shows a typically light-hearted side of the caped crusader’s adventures. Reportedly following on from the events seen in LEGO: DC Superheroes, the game will catapult Batman, his friends and foes into space in order to prevent the villain Brainiac from destroying Earth. Interestingly, the trailer gives a large part to Superman which suggests that he may also play a substantial role in the game’s proceedings.
The game will entail visiting different lantern worlds in order to collect the rings which Brainiac is using to destroy Earth’s cities. According to the trailer information, more than 150 DC characters will be unlockable in the game, in a similar vein to the more recent LEGO Marvel Superheroes. Furthermore, big LEGO figures seen in the aforementioned game will also make a return in Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy. New gadgets and abilities are also promised for the raft of playable characters.
Although no concrete release date is known at this point, Autumn 2014 is not that far away for fans of the franchise. Watch the trailer below and stay tuned to The Edge for future announcements.
