EE British Academy Film and Television Awards 2013 Nominations

The nominations for the 2013 EE British Academy Film and Television Awards have been anounced today ahead of the ceremony which will take on 10th February at the Royal Opera House in London.

Lincoln leads the way with 10 nominations, Les Miserables and Life of Pi both receiving nine nominations, Skyfall with eight, Argo racking up seven and Anna Karenina with a surprising six.

The Best Film contenders are Argo, Les Misérables, Life Of Pi, Lincoln, and Zero Dark ThirtyLes Misérables has the home advantage of being a British film with many likely to criticsise the exclusion of Skyfall, although the latest Bond-outing does feature in the Outstanding British Film category.

Kathryn Bigelow is up for Best Director after winning the award in 2010 for The Hurt Locker and becoming the first woman to gain the accoladeQuentin Tarantino will be looking for revenge with Django Unchained after losing out to Bigwelow with Inglorious Basterds. Michael Haneke, Ben Affleck, and Ang Lee join the mix for the most hotly contested category on the list.
