Union FilmsWhat a week it’s been! The Day of Disney was amazing and we’ve got even more to come in the next few days.

So keep reading for news about an exclusive competition, not to mention this week’s films, including CarrieFènix 11-23, The Butler and Gravity. It’s going to be another cracking week.

But before we crack on, we’ve got to look back to Day of Disney. With Level 3 turned our own homemade den, a green screen set up allowing us to have our pictures alongside the stars, the cool event T shirts and goody bags and of course the legendary line up of films, it had all the right ingredients for an amazing night out. If you missed out, then you can find some pictures on our Facebook page. But now, on to next week!

Carrie

Tuesday 18th February at 7pm: Carrie

A screen version of Stephen King’s chilling tale. Carrie, played by Chloë Grace Moretz of Kick Ass fame, is a shy outcast, smothered by her over protective and religious mother. When she discovers she possesses fearsome telekinetic powers, she cannot control them when she is pushed too far at her school prom. A must for any horror fan.

Wednesday 19th February at 7.30pm: Fènix 11-23

Our film in partnership with the Phoenix this week is a real-life Spanish tale of a fourteen year old boy who was arrested by anti-terrorist units. His crime: to try and defend the Catalan language by emailing supermarkets asking them to use the language on their labels. It’s set to be an intriguing story of the modern world and one definitely worth a watch.

Gravity

Saturday 22nd February at 7pm and Sunday 23rd February at 8pm: Gravity

If you haven’t already heard of Gravity then you must have been hiding under a rock for the past few months. Nominated for 10 Oscars, this is a tale that raises the bar for all future space adventures. When on a spacewalk, astronauts Dr. Ryan Stone and Matt Kowalsky are thrown into the depths of deep space when their shuttle is destroyed, leaving them completely alone in the depths of space.

Featuring brilliant performances from Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, it has rightly been hailed as a triumph in everything from story to it’s use of 3D. You can read the Edge’s review here or join us for one of our 3D screenings of this film this Saturday or Sunday.

The Butler

Sunday 23rd February at 5pm: The Butler

A beautiful and brilliant biography to round off the week and to provide a refreshing break from GravityThe Butler looks at the life of Cecil Gaines, head butler to the White House from 1952 to 1986. In those years he served eight presidents and witnessed the political and racial face of America change forever. This story of a nation through the eyes of one man will stay with you and is a powerful must see for any film fan.

Look out for:

Following the unfortunate cancelling of Don Jon on Sunday 16th February, we hope to show this at some point in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out for more details in the coming days.

We’ve also launched an exciting Captain America Trailer competition with an amazing prize that will leave you blown away! Check out this website here for all the details.
