It’s a Wonderful Life is a wonderful film that is not only Frank Capra’s best film, but also Jimmy Stewart’s, which is pretty amazing seeing as he was in some of the greatest films ever made. It’s a Wonderful Life is one of those rare films so perfectly constructed, so perfectly weighted to make you feel good that I defy anyone not to be even a little bit uplifted by the ending.
Myself? The image of Jimmy Stewart running through the snow after Clarence saves his life is enough to make me smile even when I’m not watching the film. When I am watching the film I’m pretty much sobbing like an infant by that point, every single time. It’s a Wonderful Life is one of the most beautiful, life-affirming films ever made and is truly is the perfect Christmas film.
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), directed by Frank Capra, is released on blu-ray and DVD by Universal Pictures, Certificate U.
