Lilly Wood and electronic music producer, Robin Schulz, remain on top spot in the singles chart this week with their track ‘Prayer in C’. The song, which jumped a massive 114 places last week, is a rerelease of the original 2010 track. As a result, Duke Dumont’s ‘Won’t Look Back’ misses out on the number one spot, but still arrives at number two by climbing an incredible 167 places, with The Script also missing out on securing another number one with their most recent single ‘Superheroes’, which debuts in third position.
Elsewhere in the top 10, there are two more climbers: Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora with ‘Black Widow’ and Sam Smith’s latest single from his debut album, ‘I’m Not The Only One’. The rest of the top 10 consists of tracks that have dropped at least two places, including Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ and Maroon 5’s ‘Maps’.
Other new entries in the UK top 40 are Oliver $ and Jimi Jules with ‘Pushing On’, which debuts at position 15. GRL also enter the chart just outside the top 10 at eleventh position with their single ‘Ugly Heart’, which follows the tragic news of the death of Simone Battle; a member of the girl group and previous X Factor USA contestant.
In the album chart, spending its fifteenth week in the chart (and already having entered the chart at number one), Sam Smith’s debut LP, In The Lonely Hour, is at number one spot yet again, jumping four places. As a result Royal Blood and Ed Sheeran both drop one place, sitting comfortably at two and three, respectively.
Maroon 5 enter the top 10 with their latest album, V, at four and The Pierces enter with Creation at seven. The rest of the top 10 includes the likes of Kate Bush, George Ezra and Ariana Grande. Elsewhere in the album chart, Lonely the Brave miss out on the top 10 and enter the chart at 14 with The Day’s War.
