Basingstoke based indie rock band Flashfires release their debut single ‘Circus Boy’ this month and it’s definitely one to watch out for. Since their formation, the five piece group have developed a loyal fan base, performed at Blissfields festival, and recorded in California. After recently signing with independent label Angry Badger, the band have announced that the video for the band’s first single will be released on the 23rd of April and the track available for download from the 5th of May.
First recorded at the Sacremento studios of Tesla’s Brian Wheat, the single has recently been mastered at London’s iconic Abbey Road studio ready for release. The track is already a live favourite and has fans singing along to its undeniably catchy lyrics each time it is performed.
The song’s lyrics are inspired by insecurity and a person’s desire to mask who they really are as lead singer Alex explains. “We were at a house party whilst at college and it is inspired by one guy who was acting differently around everybody he met”.
It’s evident that each element of the the track has been constructed with care, from its opening to the punchy chorus that is sure to have you singing along. Flashfires’ debut single is a true testament to the talent of its band members.
The video, featuring some aptly costumed performers, is available to view now with the single following on the 5th of May. Like Flashfires’ Facebook page or visit the official website for updates on the debut single and upcoming events.
