Adding to the recent announcements of headliners The Prodigy, Metallica and Black Sabbath, the organisers of Download Festival yesterday (January 16th) confirmed a total of 14 new acts to be appearing at the festival this year.
Supporting The Prodigy on the Friday will be London-based drum and bass duo Chase & Status, who are currently working on the follow-up to last year’s UK number-two album No More Idols. Setting the main stage for Metallica on Saturday will be Scottish hard-rockers Biffy Clyro, fixtures on the UK rock festival circuit and also currently in the studio recording. The final sub-headliners will be American alt-rock band Soundgarden, who reunited after 13 years apart in 2010 and will now be making their first appearance at Download Festival.
The announcement also came with a number of other acts for the event, including heavy metal legends Machine Head, comedy rock duo Tenacious D and pop-punk band You Me at Six, with Download promising “loads more bands to follow”. Tickets are on-sale now and can be purchased from the Download website here.
