The fourth Radio 1 Teen Awards took place in London this weekend. Musicians, actresses and inspirational teenagers descended on Wembley Arena for the ceremony, which was hosted by Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and pop star Rita Ora.
Three special prizes were awarded to Teenage Heroes, selected by a panel of judges. Jeremiah, 14, won the prize for his work to help reduce gun crime. Alexander, 13 was recognised for his fundraising efforts on behalf of the Poppy Appeal and his role as a young carer. Khloe, 17, was presented an award by Professor Green for her work as a volunteer.
The night was particularly successful for former X Factor contestants. Olly Murs picked up the prize for Best British Solo Artist and One Direction scooped two prizes for Best British Single for Best Song Ever and Best British group. Boyband Union J also won the award for Best British Breakthrough Act.
However, prizes weren’t limited to music artists. Andy Murray was recognised for his success in sports and actress Maisie Williams, star of HBO’s Game of Thrones won the prize for Best British Actress. Taylor Swift and Ferne Cotton presented an award to Doctor Who, which was named Best British TV show. Zoella was awarded Best British Vlogger for her Youtube fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog and was presented her award by Radio 1′s Dan and Phil and The Vamps.
The event featured performances from a host of incredible artists including: Jessie J, Icona Pop, Rizzle Kicks, Tinie Tempah and Fall Out Boy.
