Sam Bailey has been crowned this year’s X Factor champion. Bailey was announced as champion earlier this evening, at the end of the epic two hour results show which took place at London’s Wembley Arena. Sharon Osborne’s act recieved more than one million votes and beat teenager Nicholas McDonald to the title.
On winning Bailey has said: “Oh my god, I just can’t believe this. I’m just so grateful. Thank you so much everybody. I really am appreciative.”
The 36 year old prison warder has won a recording contract and will be supporting the lady of the moment, Beyoncé, on the UK leg of her Mrs Carter tour, in February. This is the first time ever that the prize of a prolific support slot has been offered.
The winner’s single this year is a cover of Demi Lovato’s 2011 single ‘Skyscraper’ and will now be a top contender for Christmas number one.
