DJ and producer Calvin Harris’ new single ‘Summer’ has debuted at number 1 in this week’s UK Top 40. ‘Summer’ pushed ‘Waves’ by Mr Probz, which was last week’s number 1, into the second place position. According to the Official Charts Company, ‘Summer’ outsold ‘Waves’ by around 7000 copies.
Shortly after this week’s UK Top 40 was announced, Harris tweeted: ‘Number 1 this week with a song I wrote produced mixed and sung…so happy…thanks very much!’
The single is Harris’ sixth UK number 1. In 2013, Calvin Harris became the first artist in UK music history to earn nine Top 10 singles from one album.
Elsewhere in this week’s charts, Michael Jackson’s ‘Love Never Felt So Good’ entered at number 27, only 24 hours since its release. It is the opening track from Jackson’s second posthumous album Xscape, which will be released next week. In the album charts, Paolo Nutini enjoyed a third week at the top spot with his third studio album Caustic Love.
