Known and loved for his plethora of comedy roles, actor Robin Williams was sadly found dead in his California home yesterday.
US police have confirmed that the death is being treated as ‘apparent suicide’ by asphyxiation, but a forensic examination (taking place later today) will be carried out prior to a final determination being made.
Friends of the 63-year-old actor have said Williams had been battling with depression in recent months, and it was reported that he had checked into rehab in Minnesota earlier this year.
With roles including the voice of Aladdin‘s Genie (1992), the eponymous Mrs Doubtfire (1993), and the multi-award winning Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting (1997), the loss of this talent is undoubtedly a tragedy for the acting world.
Williams’ final cinematic performance can be seen in A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle, released by Sycamore Pictures later this year.
