This year’s X Factor winner, Ben Haenow, has fought off competition and achieved this year’s Christmas number one with his rendition of ‘Something I Need’, a track originally recorded by OneRepublic.

Close behind him is Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ collaborative effort, ‘Uptown Funk’ as well as Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ in third.

Olly Murs and Demi Lovato climb 39 places to fourth after their performance of their single ‘Up’ on The X Factor‘s final last weekend. Finishing the top five is a new entry from Wealdstone Raider, the latest internet craze, and his single ‘Got No Fans’.

Completing the latter half of the top ten is Take That’s ‘These Days’, Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’, One Direction with their ‘Night Changes’, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s ‘Outside’ as well as Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’.

Over in the album chart, Ed Sheeran’s doesn’t move from top spot and reigns the UK’s chart once again. Sam Smith is in second place with his debut LP, In the Lonely Hour, and Olly Murs’ Never Been Better takes third place. The likes of Taylor Swift and George Ezra also feature in this week’s top ten, as well as Michael Buble’s Christmas album returning to the charts for the festive season.
