Arguably the hottest comedian in the UK right now, Jack Whitehall has revealed that the fourth and final series of Channel 4’s hit sitcom Fresh Meat will be returning to our screens at some point this year, with filming due to start sometime soon. The channel’s Head of Drama, Piers Wenger, confirmed the news this week.
A total of 24 episodes have aired since the show premiered, with a film spinoff also mooted back in 2013, but the occupants of the country’s favourite student house will return for a final eight episodes. All the familiar faces of Joe Thomas (The Inbetweeners), Zawe Ashton (Blitz), Kimberley Nixon (Hebburn), Charlotte Ritchie (Benny & Jolene), and Greg McHugh (Gary Tank Commander) will rejoin Whitehall for filming.
Since it first aired back in 2011, the show has been nominated for many prestigious awards, as well as winning Best New Comedy at the British Comedy Awards and Best Writer and Best Scripted Comedy at the Royal Television Society Awards.
Fresh Meat is expected to be transmitted on Channel 4 later this year.
