It has been announced that the pop icon, Lady Gaga, is to perform at this year’s Academy Awards.
The announcement was made via Twitter earlier today, where the Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron revealed that the artist will conduct “a very special live performance,” marking it as her debut spectacle on the Oscar’s stage.
Discussing Gaga’s upcoming performance, Zadan and Meron said: “Lady Gaga is a once in a lifetime artist who’s musical evolution keeps growing. We are proud to have her perform on the Oscars for the very first time.”
So far, very little is known about the “special performances” that will happen latest this month at the ceremony, but producers have confirmed that the likes of Jack Black and Jennifer Hudson are also due to participate.
Gaga did walk the red carpet at last year’s Oscars, but didn’t take to the stage. She did however at this year’s Grammys a few days ago, where she performed the title track of her collaborative jazz album with Tony Bennett, which earned them a Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
This year’s Oscars will air 22nd February and will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.
