After a “13-year commercial break” according to The X-Files creator Chris Carter, the show is set to return to the screen on Fox.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will star once more as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in the six episode event series that will begin production this summer.
It will give fans the next chapter in the lives of the much-loved team that was developed throughout the nine series of The X Files that ran between 1993 and 2002. With an archive of over 200 episodes, The X Files is one of the longest-running sci-fi series in American TV history.
Creator Chris Carter said that now is the perfect time for the show, because the world “has only gotten that much stranger.”
A date for its release is yet to be confirmed.
