The trailer for Bill Murray’s latest comedy project, Rock the Kasbah has been released.
Murray stars as Richie Lanz, a has-been music manager who takes his last remaining act on a USO tour of Afghanistan. When Richie finds himself suddenly stranded, penniless and without his passport, he gets an unexpected chance to revive his career, when he happens upon a talented young singer in Kabul. Taking it upon himself to make something of their meeting, he manages to get the girl through to Afghanistan’s version of American Idol – ‘Afghan Star’.
The movie also features Zooey Deschanel, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride and Scott Caan in supporting roles. Shia LaBeouf was originally slated to appear, but was replaced by Caan at short notice.
Directed by Barry Levinson, the film is written by Mitch Glazer, who has previously collaborated with Murray on classic films such as Scrooged and Lost in Translation.
The UK release date for Rock the Kasbah has yet to be announced, but the film will hit US cinemas in October.
