Comedy fans rejoice! Variety has reported that the brilliant Amy Poehler is set to star alongside Will Ferrell in the upcoming film, The House.
If the rumours are true, Ferrell and Poehler will play a husband and wife who get into all kinds of hilarity after Ferrell’s character starts an illegal casino in his basement, blowing their daughter’s entire college fund in the process. The film’s script has been written by Brendan O’Brien and Andrew J. Cohen – the guys behind Bad Neighbors – which is certainly promising.
Apparently, Poehler is already in final negotiations, meaning it’s pretty likely that she’ll end up in the role. If it all works out, this will be the first time Amy and Will have worked together since 2007’s Blades of Glory. If you don’t remember, that film was hilarious, so we really, really hope this comedy reunion happens.
There’s been no official confirmation from Poehler herself yet -who is also busy producing Broad City and the upcoming Hulu show Difficult People – but hopefully we’ll be treated to the magic of seeing these former SNL comics onscreen together soon.
