The first trailer for the sequel to 2013’s action blockbuster, Olympus Has Fallen has exploded online. London Has Fallen sees Gerard Butler’s professional badass back and ready to battle a bunch of terrorists.
This time around, Butler and Aaron Eckhart’s President Asher are in the capital city to attend the Prime Minister’s funeral. However, Butler soon stumbles across a plan to assassinate the assembled world leaders in one fell swoop.
The official press release for the film said this about the plot: “The sequel to the worldwide smash hit “Olympus Has Fallen” begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable secret service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.”
This is the first time 45-year old Butler has appeared onscreen since the 2013 blockbuster, having only done voice parts for How To Train Your Dragon 2 in the meantime. The star is also set to appear in Geostorm, Gods of Egypt and Den of Thieves.
London Has Fallen is set to be released on 2nd October.
