Taylor Swift has broken yet another world record.
Swift’s music video for ‘Blank Space’ – directed by Joseph Kahn -has become the fastest music video to reach one billion views on VEVO. It took the mega hit from the star’s 1989 album only eight months to hit such a remarkable milestone, beating Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’ video which took over a year to reach the same mark.
Vevo is different to YouTube in that fact that it is a standalone video hosting service used by many musicians to promote their work. It is however accessible across the web and available via YouTube.
Swift celebrated the news on Tuesday morning (7th July) by posting via Twitter: “The Blank Space video just became the fastest to hit 1 billion views on @vevo & Bad Blood is #1 at pop radio for a 3rd week. THANKS GUYS!!!”
The video, which was reportedly inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange and co-stars male model Sean O’Pry as Swift’s love interest, joins the ranks of other highly viewed music videos such as Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ and Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby.’
