Comic Con has brought us an exciting first look at the new spin-off television series of beloved cult-classic, The Evil Dead.
The 10-episode series, which is entitled Ash vs Evil Dead, sees Bruce Campbell back in action as the franchise’s main protagonist Ash Williams. And from the looks of the trailer, it seems as though evil is now following him. In an effort to escape from his past and defeat his (literal) demons, Ash pairs up with Kelly Maxwell (Dana Delorenzo) and Pablo Bolivar (Ray Santiago).
The trailer oozes the franchise’s seminal humor, which is mixed with a bloodbath for the ages. The show seems to have no restrictions on said bloodbath either – enabling Ash to don the famed chainsaw hand once again to defeat the evil that has plagued his life ever since he first opened the godforsaken Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (Book of the Dead).
The Evil Dead is a horror film franchise created by Sam Raimi. The first film was originally released in 1981, and spawned two sequels, several video games, comic books and a 2013 film reboot. The films followed Ash as he fought off creatures known as the ‘deadites’; evil souls of the dead who often possessed his loved ones as they visited an abandoned cabin in the woods.
Ash vs Evil Dead will premier on the cable channel STARZ this Halloween in the US. A UK airdate for the series has yet to be announced.
