Warner Bros have finally released an official first look at their upcoming DC villain-fest, Suicide Squad.
The 3 minute clip was first debuted exclusively to attendees at the film’s Comic Con panel on Saturday (11th July), with no plans to immediately release the teaser to worldwide audiences. However, following a widespread, fan-filmed leak of the visual, the distribution company has now elected to share the clip in all it’s HD glory.
The film focuses on a government-created taskforce, led by the ruthless Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), which is comprised wholly of the most formidable villains within the DC universe.
Within the clip, we are given several glimpses of the villains that make up the so-called ‘Suicide Squad,’ including Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Deadshot (Will Smith), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and perhaps most notably, Margot Robbie’s tantalising portrayal of Harley Quinn.
Set against a haunting cover of ‘I Started a Joke’ by the Bee Gees, the teaser culminates in an ominous laugh – marking the much-anticipated arrival of Jared Leto’s new interpretation of The Joker. In a brief, but chilling introduction to this latest version of the character, Leto’s wide-eyed bad guy taunts an unknown victim, manically stating; “I’m not going to kill you. I’m just going to hurt you really, really bad…”
Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer, is set to be released on 5th August 2016.
