The latest track from FKA twigs’ upcoming EP premiered today (3rd August) on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show.
‘Figure 8’ follows the release of ‘Glass & Patron’, which came with a self-directed vogue-heavy video with choreography by Sia. FKA twigs’ upcoming Melissa EP will feature ‘Glass & Patron’ as well as ‘Figure 8′, and sees the singer collaborate with Jordan Asher (a.k.a: producer BOOTS). The track combines racing, intricately placed electronic work with twigs’ signature vocals.
In an interview, twigs commented that the song was partly inspired by the figure 8 movement associated with the modern house dance that emerged from the Harlem ballroom scene, voguing.
The release date for Melissa has yet to be confirmed, but rumours have suggested it might land towards the end of August. It succeeds twigs’ Mercury Prize nominated debut, LP1.
FKA twigs will be performing at Bestival in mid-September.
