Karl Pilkington will soon be back on our screens, in the second series of his travelling show, The Moaning of Life.
Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s long-suffering pal–turned-reluctant traveller, will return for a second outing of the comedy documentary series later this year on Sky1. The first series saw Pilkington ponder on the big things in life – such as marriage, children, love and death – albeit through his own peculiar brand of thought.
This series will see Karl trying to re-assess his life since turning 40, as he gets up to some bizarre new recreational activities. As the trailer depicts, such activities seem to include swimming in sewage, taking part in a piece of strange nudist art and being savagely pinched by an unruly crab on a fishing boat.
“I’ve been on the planet for 40 years now, and I’m still none the wiser as to what it’s all about really,” Pilkington says.
“I’ve never worried about life’s big questions. People at my age sit about pondering, ‘Why are we here?’ The only time I ever asked myself that is when [his girlfriend] Suzanne booked us a surprise holiday to Lanzarote.”
Sky1 has yet to announce a specific air date for the series, but it is expected to broadcast at some point this Autumn. Watch the trailer below.
