Thousands of teenage hearts were set to break on Monday (24th August) after it was reported that One Direction would be splitting up in 2016. Directioners can now find some solace in the confirmation that the world famous boy band aren’t splitting, but are merely taking a hiatus from performing and releasing new songs.
Since former band member Zayn Mailk left the group in June, it has long been rumoured that the band would all part ways to focus on solo projects. But Niall Horan and Louis Tomilnson have now confirmed on Twitter that this is not the case.
Horan wrote: “Ok, so lots of rumours going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year.” Meanwhile, Tomlinson added: “Your support is truly indescribable! It’s just a break. We’re not going anywhere !! Promise, Don’t worry.”
It should come as no surprise that the band will be going on hiatus, with rumours and a possible leak of Harry Styles’ solo single, as well as Tomlinson’s impending fatherhood.
The band that first found success on The X Factor, recently released their latest single ‘Drag Me Down’ with a full album set to be released during the Christmas period. Meanwhile their ‘On the Road Again’ tour is set to return to the UK in September, when they will also be headlining the Apple Music Festival.
