After months of speculation and weeks of the BBC naming celebrities one by one, the full line-up for Strictly Come Dancing 2015 has finally been revealed. 15 celebrities will attempt to waltz their way to glory, with actors, sports stars and singers taking top billing.
The hopeful female contestants this year include actresses Kellie Bright (Linda Carter in Eastenders), rival soap star Georgia May Foote, and Helen George (Call The Midwife). Joining them are BBC Proms presenter Katie Derham, BBC Breakfast weather reporter Carol Kirkwood, singer and Loose Woman Jamelia, consumer expert/presenter Anita Rani and sports presenter, Kirsty Gallacher.
With a female celebrity winning for the last two years, the male celebrities hoping to hold the glitterball trophy in December include two sporting icons; Iwan Thomas and Anthony Ogogo. Veteran crooner, Daniel O’Donnell will also feature alongside fellow singers, Peter Andre and Jay McGuiness (The Wanted). Completing the male line-up is presenter Jeremy Vine and Ready Steady Cook presenter/chef, Ainsley Harriott.
All of the contestants will feature on the launch show, where they will each be partnered with a professional dancer. The live shows will take place three weeks after, giving the celebrities enough time to practice their dances before they try and ‘Cha Cha charm’ the judges and the public.
The Strictly Come Dancing launch show is set to air on Saturday 5th September on BBC One.
