Producers from Britain’s Got Talent are set to visit a Southampton pub today (30th August), looking for new talent to possibly put forward on the hit ITV show.
Crews from FreemantleMedia are coming to the city for the climax of the ‘Southampton’s Got Talent’ finale at the Saints pub in Millbrook. It is not the first time that teams from the London-based entertainment company have visited Southampton, as the singers, dancers and musicians in last year’s contest were filmed by producers.
Now in its fifth year, ‘Southampton’s Got Talent’ features 26 hopefuls ranging from solo performers to groups of all ages, battling it out for a £1,000 cash prize. Performers can also pin their hopes on the visiting producers, who may showcase them in the auditions process of the new series, if they can make the grade.
Event organiser and pub landlord, Eugene McManus has stated that there is still time for people to audition on the night. “It is a testament to the quality of the event we put on here,” he said. “The production team previously visited and filmed the acts but now they want to go a step forward and witness the event.”
“We still have spaces and it is a fantastic opportunity for someone to hopefully get national exposure. We know Southampton has produced a lot of musical talent and it is creeping up the M3 as people are becoming more aware of it. We want people to come down and see what talent exists in Southampton as whatever their tastes are in entertainment there will be something for everybody.”
