Electronic duo, Ibeyi have released a new video for ‘Stranger/Lover’ – the latest track to be lifted from their eponymous debut album.
Twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz feature heavily in the video as anonymous hands pull at their faces, almost manipulating them and shaping them as shots cut to and from the faces of each sister. The effect first appears to be one of passion, but the hands slowly become more aggressive. However, towards the end there is a moment of liberation as the hands are shaken off.
The French-Cuban sisters have a very distinct sound with a fusion of electronic beats, Yorùbán styles, and percussion seen throughout their debut record Ibeyi, which was released earlier this year. The album also features their first single ‘River’.
