University of Southampton alum, Emma Real-Davies and her Capital FM co-host Tom Deacon crashed a freshers’ welcome party at Gateway Halls yesterday.
Emma revealed that doing so made her pine for a “50p pint and a jesters night out.”
Surge programme controller Tom Cross also posted about the event, tweeting: “Our lovely Freshers are recording with @CapSouthCoast right now, we’ll be on air tomorrow morning!”
Capital FM haven’t been the only radio on campus however. Radio 1 DJ Chris Stark has been taking care of the freshers at the welcome parties and even went back to simpler times on Southampton’s very own station, Surge.
You too could get close to radio stars again as Scott Mills has announced that he will be taking his show around the UK to various students’ unions including SUSU.
While on tour, the show – which airs from 1-4pm every week day – will be broadcast live as the pair attempt to fully immerse themselves into student life and soak up the Freshers’ experience. The pair will also be bringing some of their most beloved segments on the road with them, including their infamous game, Innuendo Bingo.
The show will also be available to watch live on TV via the Red Button and through the BBC Radio 1 website. Speaking of the tour, Mills said: “I am so excited to be taking the show on the road and spending the week with people that absolutely love Radio 1 – the students of the UK.”
The team will be ending their week-long tour at our very own Student Union on Friday 9th October.
