Following swiftly on the heels of that gorgeous poster (though not quite swiftly enough), the latest and quite possibly final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has dropped.
The trailer debuted during the Monday night football on ESPN in the U.S. and in the early hours of Tuesday morning (20th October) online in the UK. We’ve seen it and… we nearly cried.
Opening on Rey (Daisy Ridley) exploring a downed ship, we hear both her and Finn (John Boyega) speaking for the first time. There’s actually a lot of new dialogue and characters in this one. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) gets to be menacing and make promises to the long-gone Darth Vader. We also hear (but don’t see) the voice of Lupita Nyong’o, as the pirate/merchant, Maz Kanata.
Yet even with all this new material, there’s still no plot information on the film. There is no news on Luke and surprises seem to be intact. The trailer contains nothing but truly gorgeous shots and arguably more quality acting than was ever present in any one (if not all three) of the prequels. It could be a 6-second video of a cat dressed as Ren playing with a tennis-ball sized death star and it would still make grown men cry.
Directed by JJ. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is set to be released on 17th December. Watch the new trailer below.
