Former Doctor Who stars, David Tennant and Catherine Tate are set to return to their roles for three 60 minute audio play stories.

The series is produced by Big Finish Productions, who have been producing audio dramas to accompany the sci-fi series since 1999. The production company have recently been exploring different areas of Doctor Who, writing new stories about elements such as UNIT and characters like River Song (Alex Kingston) and the War Doctor (John Hurt).

Tennant starred in as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor from 2005- 2010, with Tate joining him as companion, Donna Noble in the fourth series. The duo were much loved for the platonic dynamic between them – which proved refreshing after previous companions – as well as for their combined wit and comic timing. Fans can expect more of this dynamic in the new content.

‘Technophobia’ by Matt Fitton, ‘Time Reaver’ by Jenny T Colgan, and ‘Death and the Queen’ by James Goss, will comprise the audio book collection – entitled Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventure – which will be released in May 2016.

Speaking of the project, producer David Richardson said: “Expect adventure, fun, scares… and some tears too.”
