Sony Classics have released the first theatrical trailer for their upcoming musical biopic, I Saw The Light.
Starring Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen, the film follows the tragically short life and career of country music legend, Hank Williams.
Despite being a talented musician and songwriter, Williams struggled with addiction and alcoholism which put a strain on his marriage to his wife, manager and duet partner, Audrey Sheppard (Olsen). If this new trailer is anything to go by, the film will focus unflinchingly on the many struggles the singer went through in amongst his successes.
In an exclusive Q&A at the Nuffield Theatre earlier this year, Hiddleston – who is perhaps best known for his role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – remarked that the live performances involved in preparation for the role made him realise “why rock stars stay rock stars until they die.”
Directed by Marc Abraham, I Saw The Light is set to hit UK cinemas on 5th February 2016.
