Just under two months since details of the play were announced, the lead characters in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have been cast.
In the new stage production, created with the aid of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, Jamie Parker, Paul Thornley and Noma Dumezweni will portray the 30 year old versions of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
Speaking of the news, Rowling stated: “I’m so excited with the choice of casting for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I can’t wait to see Jamie, Noma and Paul bring the adult Harry, Hermione and Ron to life on stage next summer.”
Parker has previously starred in several theatre productions including The History Boys, while Thornley has appeared in a small number of films including Les Misérables and Minions. Meanwhile, Dumezweni is an Olivier-award winning actress who has featured in several TV shows including Doctor Who, Shameless and Eastenders.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be staged in two parts, with previews officially starting on 7th June 2016. The show’s run is currently booked up to May 2017.
