A new Daredevil trailer has arrived, in anticipation of the new upcoming season.
The first series of the Netflix Original Series Daredevil was certainly very solid viewing and marked a watershed moment for the Marvel Universe in terms of dealing with more darker and violent themes, which certainly made for punchier storylines. And now, with the coming of the second season, Daredevil a.k.a Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) comes face to face with Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) and his villainous vigilante side, the Punisher.
A brief of teaser on the official Daredevil twitter account celebrating Chinese New Year ominously teases Punisher with a voiceover reminding Murdock that his “work is not yet finished,” before a barrage of gunfire hails violently in the background behind the titular hero. Punisher’s presence will certainly have a major impact on Murdock and will force him to “question everything he thought he knew about being a superhero.”
What marks the Punisher out, according to Bernthal is that “he’s not really concerned with being a hero. His superpower is his rage. His superpower is that he’s not gonna quit, he’s gonna go forward no matter what.” For a character like Daredevil, whose judicial vigilante self is the complete opposite of the wisecracking lawyer persona he takes by day, Punisher is going to be a problem – and not necessarily one that he will be able to control.
Add that to the fact you have Elodie Yung joining the cast as Elektra – who will do whatever she wants to achieve her goals, even if it means murder and causing havoc in Hell’s Kitchen – and it would seem that Matt Murdock is going to have a lot of problems on his hands this series.
Daredevil: Season 2 is due to launch on Netflix on 18th March. Watch the trailer below.
