Fresh from the MTV Movie Awards, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them has received it’s first full trailer.
The Harry Potter prequel, which takes place in 1920’s New York, follows the globe-trotting magizoologist, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he arrives in America with a briefcase full of magical creatures.
Despite his magic, “muggle-worthy” briefcase, some of the most dangerous beasts in Scamander’s possession escape and ransack the city – but that’s only half the problem, as we can hear in Colin Farrell’s ominous voiceover when his high-ranking auror, Percival Graves, appears to question Scamander and the faith imbibed in him by Albus Dumbledore.
As well as this passing mention of the Hogwarts’ headmaster, the trailer also offers several other nods to the wizarding world we all know and love, including what certainly seems to be the American equivalent of Diagon Alley as well as a fair amount of dramatic wand-waving and disapparations.
And of course, throughout the trailer, there’s also that unmistakably nostalgic feeling that comes with the presence of John Williams’ iconic Potter score. Needless to say, we’re excited.
Directed by David Yates, written by J.K. Rowling herself and also starring the likes of Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Ron Perlman and Jon Voight, Fantastic Beasts is set to hit UK cinemas on 18th November.
