After a whirlwind of rumours and speculation, it has finally been revealed that Alicia Vikander is set star in the new Tomb Raider film.
The Oscar-winning actress has officially signed on to take on the role of Lara Croft – the iconic female gaming heroine of the Tomb Raider franchise.
The movie project, which is set to be directed by The Wave’s Roar Uthaug, will tell the story of a young and untested Croft, fighting to survive her first adventure.
The game was first adapted on screen in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, starring Angelina Jolie as the kick-ass archaeologist. A sequel, entitled Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, was released in 2004.
