Warner Bros are working on a new movie which could star Margot Robbie’s scene-stealing villainess, Harley Quinn.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project – which is not a Harley Quinn solo film – would focus on several of DC’s most iconic female heroes and villains.
Even though Suicide Squad is still three months away from arriving in UK cinemas, audience reception to the film’s various trailers has already suggested that Robbie’s portrayal of the twisted, bubblegum-blowing psychopath will be a firm favourite.
As well as being attached to star in the proposed film, Robbie is also reportedly lined up to produce the untitled spin-off. Details of the project are being kept firmly under wraps, but names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey have surfaced online. It has also been reported that the screenwriter behind this project is female.
Following Marvel’s long-gestating promises to give their female heroes more independent screen-time, this project certainly seems to be a step in the right direction for both DC and Warner Bros.
Suicide Squad will be arriving in UK cinemas on 5th August. Watch the trailer below.
