Anna Gunn, best known for her roles in Breaking Bad and Gracepoint, has been confirmed to star alongside Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta in NBC police drama Shades of Blue.
Gunn has previously had experience in cop dramas, as she starred in Gracepoint, the US remake of ITV’s crime hit Broadchurch, playing Detective Ellie Miller.
Shades of Blue centres around Harlee Santos (Lopez), a resourceful detective at the heart of a tight crew of detectives, who is also trying to be a charismatic single mother. Drea de Matteo and Gino Pesi also star.
Gunn’s role in Shades of Blue is more enigmatic. She will be playing a City Councilwoman on the rise, who is tipped for Mayoral office. Her colourful past, according to this Deadline article involves a meteoric rise through the NYPD, before launching a political career. As the series progresses, the chameleon’s more Machiavellian side is set to come to the fore.
