After only one season, HBO have decided to cancel the record industry drama Vinyl.
The axing of the series comes as little surprise, as the show reportedly cost $100 million in its first season, whilst only pulling less than 1 million viewers by the end of the season.
HBO issued a statement regarded the cancellation: “After careful consideration, we have decided no to proceed with a second season of Vinyl. Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project.”
The show seemed set to fall once showrunner Terence Winter exited the project, and chief programmer Michael Lombardo stepped down – this came after thy had originally officially renewed the show for a second season.
