Director James Gunn has revealed Nebula’s (Karen Gillan) role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to be “huge”.
He tweeted the news today to followers who enquired about how the film’s production was going, ahead of it’s intended release next year. “Nebula is a huge character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” Gunn tweeted. “Karen Gillan has her makeup applied every day of her many days on set.” This will come as no surprise to fans, after Gunn promised last October that Nebula would have a bigger role in the sequel.
Besides confirming her role as main antagonist, Gunn also tweeted: “I’d say the 1st film is a space opera, not a science fiction film. The 2nd movie is a bit more science fiction tho.“ He also revealed that Glenn Close would be returning for the second instalment of the sci-fi Marvel franchise, and that Farscape had a profound influence on the film series.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Dave Bautista and is set to be released on 28th April 2017 in the UK. Watch the a teaser from the set below:
