More details have emerged following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘s panel at San Diego Comic Con 2016.
Among key things discussed were the making of the sci-fi action Marvel sequel, which has just finished filming, as well as Director James Gunn discussing the film as a whole.
Gunn stated he felt more at ease making the sequel, joking: “It’s a much better pressure knowing people are going to see your movie, instead of on the first film waking up and wondering if you’re making Pluto Nash.”
Chris Pratt, who plays Starlord also commented on his new role saying: “He’s a little bit more responsible and trying to do better… but still coming up short.” In addition, Zoe Saldana discussed her character Gamora’s relationship with Starlord, quipping it had become: “old lady, constantly telling him to stop it, stop it…”
Gunn also revealed the first footage from the film, which showcased the original characters returning to wreak mayhem all around in their classic style, but also unveiled Kurt Russell as Starlord’s father Ego, leading to a brilliantly comic moment between Starlord and his papa, where he states: “My name is Ego. I’m your dad.”
The footage has not leaked online yet, however. Keep checking back for the trailer. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to be released May 5th 2017. Watch the first teaser below:
