The brains behind smash hit Jersey Boys, based on the life of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons have today announced The Addams Family musical will come to Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre next year.
The show is set to premiere in the UK and Ireland next year from the 18th July through to the 29th.
Based on the characters created by Charles Addams, the musical is set in the future with a teenage Wednesday Addams (Ultimate Princess of Darkness) having fallen in love with a young man who is smart, funny and from a normal family! As a result, the hapless Gomez Addams must embark on his toughest challenge- keep a secret from his wife Morticia! Everyone including Uncle Fester, Lurch and the whole clan gather together for the dinner with the ‘normal’ family, which promises to shock and change everyone.
The production began on Broadway, before touring the USA. The Addams Family has also embarked on a world-tour spanning Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The Addams Family is set to tour England next year. It is directed by Matthew White, wrote by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. You can buy tickets here.
