The 2004 movie, which has come to be renowned as a cult classic romance, is currently set to be remade as a TV series by Anonymous Content, through the Universal Cable Production studios .
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which starred Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, focuses on a couple who go through a process which erases all memories of their significant other from their mind. The film also stars Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood and Tom Wilkinson.
The show is set to be produced by one of the original producers, Steve Golin, alongside Richard Brown, who is known for being the executive producer for hit series True Detective. However, the Academy Award winning writing trio of Charlie Kaufman, Michel Gondry and Pierre Bismuth are not looking to be a part of the project.
This comes in the wake of many films being remade for TV, and is seen as a consistently valid way of monetizing already owned intellectual property and film content.
It also makes for one of many of Anonymous Content’s productions in TV, with shows ranging from Mr Robot and True Detective, to the upcoming YA lit adaptation of Jay Asher’s novel 13 Reasons Why starring Selena Gomez.
