Miranda Hart is set to return to the big screen as she officially joins the cast of Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
Following the success of Spy, Miranda Hart is returning to the cinema in Disney’s live action production of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Hart’s part has been confirmed as that of the Dew Drop Fairy, who (unsurprisingly) is a comedic character.
Hart joins an impressive cast, including Helen Mirren, who will play Mother Ginger, Morgan Freeman, who will play Drosselmeyer and Keira Knightley, who will be playing the Sugar Plum Fairy. Interstellar actress Mackenzie Foy will star as Clara.
Lasse Hallström will direct Disney’s live action production of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, with Mark Gordon producing and Lindy Goldstein executive producing. Ashleigh Powell is writing the script which is based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s original story.
Hoffman’s original story, titled The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, centres around a little girl who gets gifted a nutcracker doll for Christmas. By some strange magic this nutcracker doll comes to life and the little girl must protect it from the evil Mouse King who seeks to destroy it. As she attempts to protect her doll she finds herself transported to a strange world where she battles mice army’s and engages in other adventures.
Production for the live action remake will start later this autumn and the US release date is set for 2018.
