Daniel Nettheim has confirmed via his official Instagram account that he is penning an episode for Steven Moffat’s final series of the long-running BBC Sci-Fi show.
The post, which can be viewed here, was accompanied by the simple caption of ‘Shoot Day #1’. Nettheim has previous experience writing for Doctor Who during the period which Steven Moffat has been the main showrunner, having already penned the Zygon series nine two-parter, ‘The Zygon Invasion’ and ‘The Zygon Inversion’. On this evidence, one would probably expect the brown reptilian shape-shifters to once again be returning to cause more trouble for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor.
Nettheim’s other writing credits include Humans, BBC drama series Line of Duty, and Willem Dafoe’s The Hunter. He joins the list of confirmed writers for the series; Steven Moffat (five episodes) and Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Rona Munro, Sarah Dollard, Mike Bartlett and Jamie Mathieson (one episode each).
The writers of two episodes are still unconfirmed. Steven Moffat has also confirmed this will be the final series of the show that he will write for, with Broadchurch‘s Chris Chibnall taking over from 2018,
Doctor Who will return on Christmas Day with ‘The Return of Doctor Mysterio’, with Series Ten set to fully air from April next year. Check out a sneak preview of the Xmas Special below:
