Following the success of our first event last year, The Edge is pleased to announce that submissions are now open for the second annual University of Southampton Student Film Festival.
The event, which is sponsored by The Edge and Wessex Films, is set to celebrate the very best of student film-making here at the University. Last year, we received 25 glittering entries and in 2017, we’re hoping to see even more from the film-making enthusiasts here in Southampton.
The Terms and Conditions for this year’s submissions are as follows:
- Each film must be a maximum of 15 minutes in length, including credits.
- It must be classified as a student film (a non-professional production), and contain no explicit (18+) material.
- Entries must be original and not repeats of films previously screened at THIS festival.
- Entrants must either be current students at the University of Southampton or students who have graduated within the past two academic years (2015/16 – 2014/15)
The deadline for submissions, which should be submitted through this Google form, is 23:59 on Monday 13th February 2017.
Entries will then be reviewed by a panel of judges (yet to be confirmed) with a selection of the best films being screened at our big awards event in March.
Commenting on the event, the festival’s co-founder, Pippa Short said:
I am really excited to see the University of Southampton Student Film Festival open up for its second year running. With the help of a very dedicated film festival committee, we can expect to see an even bigger and better film festival that will be hosted towards the end of March 2017. We cannot wait to see all the talented filmmakers get together once more, so keep an eye on our social media for all of our updates over the next few months!

The Second Annual University of Southampton Student Film Festival will take place on Thursday 23rd March 2017.
