After previous rumours that 2017’s Isle of Wight Festival would be cancelled, these fears have been allayed today with the above acts being announced as joint-headliners.
Hip-hop legends Run-DMC commented on the news, saying: ‘We absolutely love playing in the UK, it’s always such a great reception. You guys rock! To be given the chance to play such an iconic UK festival is huge and we’re really looking forward to it!’
Isle of Wight Festival John Giddings discussed the festival, saying, ‘The Isle of Wight Festival has always been known for its variety in music and this year is no different. To have the world’s first and most inspiring hip hop group headlining alongside one of the world’s biggest electronic DJ’s is fantastic.’ He also discussed the other performers at the festival, adding, ‘I’m also really excited about George Ezra, Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, Bastille and Jack Savoretti. Again there’s something for everyone. I know the crowds at the festival are going wild for all the acts, not just the headliners.’
The 2016 Isle of Wight Festival attracted over 58,000 spectators who saw headline sets from Status Quo, Faithless, Stereophonics, The Who, Richard Ashcroft, Queen + Adam Lambert and Ocean Colour Scene.
David Guetta and Run-DMC will headline the festival, and are joined by Bastille, George Ezra, Rag’n’Bone Man and Jack Savoretti.
Isle of Wight Festival 2017 will take place on 8th-11th June 2017. Check out highlights of this year’s show below:
