Netflix have released a brief but chilling announcement trailer for House of Cards season 5, on the date of Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The political drama set in the corridors of Washington DC, starring Kevin Spacey as malicious, power-hungry President Frank Underwood and his charismatic, but increasingly distant wife Claire, played by Robin Wright. After cracks began to appear at the end of the fourth season, Netflix’s brief snapshot of the next series also promises that these problems will become more prevalent, and the cracks will get deeper as more and more skeletons come out of the closet.
In the trailer, there is a chilling childish repetition of American Pledge of Allegiance as the flag is raised in front of the darkened White House with the ominous caption, ‘We make the terror.’ This quote comes from the finale of the fourth season when Claire and Frank argued following the revelations in season three and four.
House of Cards also stars Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Neve Campbell, Derek Cecil, Paul Sparks, and Joel Kinnaman. It is produced by Donen/Fincher/Roth and Trigger Street Productions, Inc. in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix.
The fifth season of House of Cards is set to be available on Netflix from 30th May 2017. Check out the teaser trailer below:
